Ingredients
  

For homemade Soft Pretzels

  • 12 ounces warm water
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 ¼ tsp)
  • 4 1/2 cups flour
  • 3 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 cups hot tap water
  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 4 tbsp soft and unsalted  butter
  • 1 tbsp pretzel salt according to the taste you need

For Cheese Dip

  • 4 tbsp unsalted  butter
  • 4 tbsp flour
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • Pinch of  salt
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 1/2 cup shredded cheese

Instructions
 

Preparation of Homemade Soft Pretzels

  • Step 1: Preheat the oven to 450 degree C. Make sure that the oven is hot before we go on cooking.
  • Step2: Ina large bowl, add 12 ounces of warm water. Sprinkle the active dry yeast on top and stir it well with a spoon. Set it for 5 minutes until it creates bubbles on it.
  • Step 3: Add 4 ½ cup of flour, 3 tbsp sugar and 1 tsp salt to the bowl.
  • Step4: Make the dough with the proper amount of water and form soft and smooth dough. Knead the dough for 5 minutes to be perfect.
  • Step 5: In a large bowl, whisk together 3 cups hot tap water with ½ cup baking soda until it dissolves. Cover two large sheet trays with parchment paper.
  • Step 6: Place the dough on a clean surface and divide them into six portions.
  • Step 7: Put some flour on your surface if it is sticky. Now roll each portion into a rope-like structure, say 30 inches long.
  • Step 8: Make a U shape structure facing the bottom of  U towards you.
  • Step 9: Now, try to criss-cross the rope twice and fold it over itself to make a pretzel shape. Secure the ends with the u shape to lock it properly.
  • Step 10: Place the pretzels into baking soda water very gently.
  • Step 11: Now, you need to place the pretzels onto lined baking sheet about 2 inches apart to each other and then place it on baking tray.
  • Step 12: Now, you have to bake for 8-10 minutes until golden brown.
  • Step 13: After this, you have to brush it with 4 tbsp unsalted butter. Sprinkle with 1tbsp pretzel salt.

Preparation Of Pretzel Cheese Dip

  • Step 1: In a medium sized saucepan over medium-low heat, melt4 tbsp unsalted butter. Add 4 tbsp flour, ½ tsp garlic & ½tsp onion powder and pinch of salt. Whisk it well and cook for 30 seconds.
  • Step 2: After this, you have to add 2 cups of milk on the mixer slowly to make it lump free. Once it gets started thicken turn off the heat.
  • Step 3: Now, stir in 1 ½ cup of shredded cheese until melted. Serve it with pretzels.

Notes

The cheese sauce is optional but highly recommended. If the pretzels portion is more, time may vary. Be careful while making the dish.
